Online Piano Lessons

What You Will Need

  • A computer, phone or tablet with a strong internet connection

  • A piano or keyboard

  • Hangouts Meet By Google App - to access your lessons from phone or tablet download this app for free from your device’s App Store. You do not need this app to do your lessons from your computer.

How To Access Your Lessons

  • After booking your first lesson, you will receive an invite to join your recurring online lessons event via email.  This will automatically sync with your Google Calendar.  Just accept the invite and use the Google Hangouts Meet link in that calendar event to join your lesson at your scheduled time.

  • You can use a laptop, desktop, tablet or phone for your lesson.

Tips For Success

  • Once you join your lesson, you will see your teacher on your screen.

  • Be sure you are seated in front of your piano or keyboard and are able to place your device at the proper angle so your teacher can see your hands on the keys.  A few suggestions that work well are placing the device to the side of your keyboard or piano or placing it behind you looking over your shoulder.  This does not have to be perfect!  Your teacher just needs to be able to see and hear what you are playing.  A tripod comes in very handy for setting this all up if you are using a phone.

  • During your lesson, be sure to have your volume turned up on your keyboard so that your teacher can hear you clearly.

  • Be sure to clear your practice space from as many distractions as possible (kids, pets, ringing phones, etc.).

  • To access your lesson via phone or tablet, be sure to download the Hangouts Meet by Google App from your device’s app store.  This is a free download.

  • If you are attending your lesson via phone or tablet, be sure to set your device to DO NOT DISTURB so incoming calls or texts won’t disrupt your lesson.

  • In order to have the best internet connection as possible, try to limit other people in your household from using the internet at the same time as your lesson. The more bandwidth that can be directed towards your lesson ,the better connection you will have.
